Meet Maya Irvin-Vitela

Graduate Admissions Consultant (Psychology & Health)

 Maya Irvin-Vitela is a first-year PhD student in the Counseling Psychology program at Iowa State University. Maya’s research focuses on psychopathy, the developmental psychopathology of antisocial traits, risk and resilience, the multifinality of childhood trauma, and gender differences in assessment and treatment.

Maya obtained her B.A. in Psychology with minors in Sociology and American Studies at DePaul University in 2017. Following her undergraduate degree, Maya worked as a research assistant and clinical research coordinator in Dr. Kent Kiehl’s lab studying the neuropsychology of forensic psychopathy. She also spent a year as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. 


Maya began helping fellow students apply to fellowship and graduate programs while at DePaul University. She has provided support and guidance to applicants applying to medical school, public health graduate programs, law school, and international graduate programs. She is deeply committed to the mission of Accepted Consulting in making academia accessible to all and strongly believes in empowering people to be successful in their own right.
